Bicolored Hawk

Wildsumaco, Napo

Probably a juvenile bird. The spotting on the flanks doesn't fit any adult pluamge and the rusty fringes on the back suggest a juvenile plumage.

Hi

I have considered this and you are right! Superficially similar to Buckley's Forest-Falcon which I have seen and/or heard here several times before.

yellow eyes, broad pale tail bands, dark cheeks... great shots but this is the confusingly variable juvenile Bicolored Hawk.
