Making of Ketupat Shell

Jakarta, Indonesia

Ketupat is rice cubes cocked inside a shell made out of leaves of a certain palm tree. The leaves are weaved together where a space to put half cocked rice in and then closed in by weaving the leaves further. This guy was weaving palm leaves to make the shell for that purpose. The entire ketupat is approximately the size of your fist and it is cut in smaller cubes and used for certain soupy dishes where regularly cocked rice is completely out of place.
