What a wonderful sight to see. I was a VW unit repair guy and for Mr Birch... the man is not grinding valves, he's lovingly LAPPING in the valves, smoothing out the machined surface to make perfect contact and producing a harder surface which prevents the valve stem clearance from going away too soon. Thanks guys I enjoyed that. Long live the 917, the baddest racer ever concieved.

I am glad they are not my heads he has in that vice grinding the valves by hand with grinding paste. What a cow boy.

Simply a wonderful engine. I am so jealous. The last photo in the series says it all; I would be full of smiles too.

Bravo,

Wonderful, Superb
How long did you take to build this 917.
Did you have all the drawings?
Are you used to restore 917? It seems that you have a Martini car.

Best Regards
