NP Installation - Scheel Seats with 4 Upper-Locking Seat Rails

Bernie, I finally located the 2 small aluminum round spacers and upper seat-rail shims for the passenger seat. I'm shipping those off to you this coming week along with some other items you requested.

I wanted to start this reference section with this photo of our humble beginning https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/88567609. Note how the lower seat rails were not cut at the rear yet and the 914-6 GT 'Rally Seat-Rail Supports' were not even in that picture. Fast forward to the end and we see this https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/89255342. A lot of time and hard work went into this section of the project, but at the end, to me it was all worth it https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/89075915. Anyone remotely interested in doing the same, can review this remarkable fabrication photo sequence https://pbase.com/9146gt/my9146gt_seatrails_installation

About the 2 Small Round Spacers https://pbase.com/image/159869797 One single round spacer was custom-made and fitted for each of the two seats, there is ONLY ONE spacer used for each bucket seat, the spacer is installed at the front of one of the two lower seat-rails.

The reason for the Small Round Spacer (BTW, this ONLY applies when using two upper locking seat-rails in one bucket seat) When using two upper locking seat-rails in one bucket seat https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/88660125 a specific length (this had to be measured) single round spacer places one lower seat rail in perfect alignment to the opposite side allowing both upper locking levers to fully engage the adjustment slots of the bottom rails at the same time https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/88660152. This will be immediately evident as the bucket seat is adjusted back and forth by the driver, or passenger while trying to engage the locking lever mechanism. If the small round alignment spacer is NOT used, only one of the two locking levers sides will engage and lock the seat in place.

About the Aluminum Upper-Rail 'Shims' https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/159869800 The complete set of Scheel seat rails I collected for my car, one pair of upper seat-rails are flat (with the exception of the center hinged adjustment lever) and require thin aluminum shims while attaching them to the base of the bucket seat. The 2nd pair of upper seat-rails are a bit different, those already come with raised bosses at either end and don't require any type of shimming while being bolted to the base of the seat. The following photo illustrates this very well https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/97501859 The center two upper rails have these bosses, the two outer seat-rails do not, those are flat. The following photo indicates which rail pair is to be used with either the 911R Driver's seat, or the passenger seat https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/159870370

Another reason why we have to assign a specific upper seat-rail pair to each Scheel bucket seat This is because both Scheel seats are in fact different; https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/139453574 not only is one seat smaller than the other, but the 911R seat is much shorter at the base (front/back) than the passenger seat when compared side-by-side https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/137115002 (911R Bucket is on the right). Once the seat-rails are sorted, bolted in place and both seats installed, after my review, I will make a determination if cutting the length of the two upper seat-rails attached to the 911R bucket will be necessary. I may very well leave these pair of upper rails uncut if those are not in the way or look odd after the installation. Please note the 'blue lines' in this photo https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/159870105 and now compare that to the passenger seat https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/88660127. By the way, ALL upper seat-rails are exactly the same length, all of them remain 'uncut' in their original full factory length.
