NP OEM Magnesium, Chromate & DOW - Sample Finishes

Decisions, decisions... How to best and correctly finish (define 'correctly'!) a set of factory original Magnesium 906 Center Lube Chain Box Housings and Covers, exactly my dilemma. Below are some sample photographs of various Porsche Magnesium racing parts and how others have fared while doing the balancing act of 'preservation' and 'period originality correctness".

Among these samples, you will also find OEM Magnesium finishes, such as; a 7R Mag Case https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/48160727, 911 RSR Mag Center-Lube Cover https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/149865871 (compared to the Chromate finish https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/149865900), an engine racing oil-filter console https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/46607104, a complete set of OEM NOS 906 Centerlube Housings/Covers https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/35888633, 907 motor https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/24432402, 908 motor https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/148610491 and a 917 BOSCH Pump Cover too https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/152643495.

In this group we have: Near Black https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/142017825 Gray https://pbase.com/image/34692368 Gold https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/151530426 as well as a rich Brown color https://pbase.com/image/153540620 and several other shades in-between. Consistent results while Chromating Magnesium is difficult to control and obtain, many factors affect the outcome; the alloy casting, heat-cycles of the used part, chemicals, electrical current, time exposure, etc.

Please note... I'm well aware of the differences between all, but not limited to the following variables; photographic equipment, settings, exposure, lighting conditions, computer graphics cards and screen outputs, vision acuity, color-blindness levels, Rx glasses, etc. LOL
