In order to implement the 917 gearbox oil cooler at the rear trunk of the 914, I came up with the idea to use a partial 914 rear trunk clip as the test-bed for the concept. My thought was to use the clip to create a design, mock-up and complete the fabrication for all the required pieces for a future an off-site installation https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/165665124.

After all was said and done, I would ship the parts to the body shop painting the car so they in turn can graph it to the vehicle. The idea was with good intentions, but by far not the preferred choice. After careful consideration of all options available, and looking at all the 'pros and cons', I made the executive decision to bring the car home to implement this modification directly on the chassis of my 914-6 GT. A good call.
