I recently upgraded to the new mk 3 2x TC. I took both the new and old one out and did some side by side photos using a 400 2.8LIS and a 70-200 2.8LIS (original IS version) All shot with a 1Dmk4. I did not have a chance to compare AF speeds in AI Servo mode, but the new version does seem to be slightly sharper.
