Had a '68 Norton Atlas..predecessor to this one..and Icalled it the "NotRun", in view of it's constant breakdowns. Others of the same vintage had the same problems. Good looking machine, but, like most British iron, unreliable.
There's a bikenight hereabouts at the local Sonic..and frequently a gentleman shows up on his '46 AJS. Looks good and runs fine, although it takes alot of tinkering. Love to see the older machines still being ridden.

I remember that someone had on of these in our village -circa 1976. As kids we spent hours drooling over it...If you look closely you can see the wet patch here too.. :-))

We have a few vinatge ones still around in India and ofcourse the Royal Enfield that is still being manufactured with the original Design and engine from the 1950's

On the very first page, the Norton owners' manuals will tell you that a Norton never has had nor will have an electric starter, motorcycles are meant to be kick started. Nortons were noted for their high compression engines that routinely kicked back. Most former owners smile fondly at the memories and limp off into the sunset.
