Kentucky's very southeastern corner. Just above where the Smokey Mountains start, I think.

Larry, where is Middlesboro? Looks like eastern Kentucky from the mountains in the background. My grandmother grew up in Tollesboro, my brother-in-law in Jenkins, smack in the middle of coal country. This photo takes me way back to visiting my relatives in Tollesboro when I was a kid. I remember driving home from there through the countryside and the sounds of crickets and locusts on a summer's night (cars weren't air-conditioned then so we had the windows all the way down). Must have been about 1956 or 1957.
This makes me miss my grandma. In this photo your grandmother seems to be posing in the way they did when photography was first invented---looking away into the distance. The turban and cat's eye glasses---they were what my grandma wore, too. It's nice to share shots like this.
