Tojinbo is a series of cliffs on the coast of Japan, it is a place notorious for the high number of suicides that are committed there. Especially in times of economic crisis and high unemployment rates the cliffs attract many people who don't seem to know a different way out.
Tojinbo stands as a symbol for many things which are wrong in today's society. The pressure to fit in and be successful, good looking, wealthy etc. can drive some people to drastic actions.
