The old wheel chair was parked in the corner of this room in the
abandoned building pictured on the left in the previous photo.
Upon inspection, we now believe this to be the dining hall.
I have used those chairs with my geriatric patients a @ 1985. You are correct, it is a Geri- chair. This chair was important in that the patient needn't be restrained in a Posey belt. It also allows the patients to sit up and be able to eat better. The patient had a more "normal" aspect for the patient.

I know I'm very late to the party, but this is called a "Gerry Chair" as in geriatric chair.

Hi,
You know what, this doesn't actually look like a wheel chair to me. It looks like a commode. I work for aurora, and they still use the same model. the seat so actually life up and there should be a bucket, looks like the bucket is missing....

Did you happen to notice the old bars that had been taken off the windows when you got the shot?? I grew up here and can personally tell you they were not only abused in every form of the imagination and victums to sicker people than "THEY" were, but they were also prisioners and all most everyone who came to the hopital alive died in it!! Pretty sad huh?? Great pics though and the commentary at the end is awsome and gives your photos such character!! You did a great job potographing them!!

Hi I would like to say that this is the first look at this hospital in a long time. I use to go to elementry across the street from the hospital. All Saints. I read the stories on the websites. By the way let me know if you can get any photos of the boiler room I hear there is some real good paranormal activity down there
