In the Hürriyet Caddesi, one of the main shopping streets, a flight of stairs lead to a courtyard where one can (sometimes) visit this church, named after apostles Peter and Paul. A notice indicates there earlier was a wooden church on the same spot, that burnt down due to its oil lamps when in 1872 an earthquake struck. The same text indicates (without getting specific) the current building, finished in 1900, is in Byzantine style but with Russian influences. It supposedly is amongst the finest Syrian Orthodox churches in the country.
