We visited Vogelsberg or Bird Mountain, with our friends Dougie and Silke. Vogelsberg, which is located approximately 60 km northeast from Frankfurt, is actually a group of extinct volcanoes, with its two highest points being taufstein (773 m) and Hoherodskopf (764 m). It is the largest connected basalt massif in Europe and originated approximately 19 million year ago. Vogelsberg is well-known for its winter sports areas and in the summer for its many bicycle routes. We’ll have to come back here in the summer to check it out as well. Enjoy...
