This camera gear belonged to an out of state photographer who was in Nome to shoot the Iditarod. He set his bags and cameras down at the base of the upright supporting the burled arch at the finish. I told him politely that this was not a good place to leave his gear....and was told in a suprisingly arrogant manner that he'd keep an eye on his stuff and he didn't really think there were any thieves around. Well, he was right, there weren't any thieves around. But there was a team of 14 dogs, each one with a need to mark her turf. Live and learn!
