This gypsy family was camped on Imotski field. The man was cooking a chicken in the pot and watching his daughter. There was an older boy, a teenager, who was shy about being photographed. The man was very friendly. During the Yugoslav era Gypsies, or Roma, were officially treated with respect. The average citizen was not always civil, but many were. I wonder how they are faring now. During the war they seemed less traumatized than other refugees. Perhaps it was because they didn't feel dislocated the way the other ethnicities did.
