Patrick had just been wounded and was recuperating. He'd gone with some British troops to the Croatian front line and a Croat soldier who was either drunk or crazy detonated a Claymore mine, wounding Bishop and the Ghurka officer whose name is about to come to me. Neither wound was serious but Patrick was laid up for a while. He did stay in Bosnia as I recall. The British hospital at Vitez was excellent. The serious-looking book he's reading is Dreadnought.
