Bicycle racing

I shot lots of bike races in California and Oregon starting in 1966. Gradually I'll get more pictures up here. I've got tons of photos. If you see yourself either mis-identified or non identified please let me know. Also, anybody who can tell me who the nameless riders are would be appreciated.

what a great gallery really enjoyed looking through . I also hundreds of pictures from the sixties . unfortunately after my father died my mother decided to have a big clean out and away went all my negatives . which included ones are taken off Tommy Simpson riding is last event in Great Britain a criterium at new Brighton near Liverpool . ,voted

Wow! great pics!! The "Velo Sport rider" is me, Calvin Trampleasure. I got 11th place in that race, use to joke that I won the Natz twice (two first places- 11 - in the same race)! Teach Kindergarten and 4th-5th grade physical education at Madera school in El Cerrito now, still ride for fun and health.

Ah. Great memories of the Coors Classic/ Red Zinger. Growing up in Boulder, Colorado it had a huge impact on my life. I watched the race for years and even worked on the road crew for the Aloha Edition (only went to San Francisco and worked the stages from there on- not many from Colorado got to go to Hawaii). Chance to see many great riders. Eddie Merckx stopped by one year too. Thanks for posting these!

This here is James, the photographer. I'm trying to get in touch with Tom Broznowski. If anybody has contact info please pass it on. I've got a bunch of photos for him. He started out in the Pacific Northwest when I was shooting pictures there, so I've got nice stuff of him racing in the rain....since that's the only kind of racing we have in Portland and Seattle.

Living in Boulder, CO I'm lucky to be around some of cycling's great stars. Dale Stetina still rides here, as do Glann Sanders and Alan McCormack. On the annual R2V fundraiser ride for Davis Phinney's Parkinson's Foundation we had Kiefel, Grewal, Paranka, Vails, Prehn, Sanders, Stetina, Walton, Zinn, Davis, Connie and more out on the roads. It was a real Coors Classic reunion. Thanks James for the great shots of days gone by.

James, This is great. We get to see some classic photos of races many of us witnessed, as well as see comments from people we may not have heard from in many years. Matt Sarna, Tony Tom, etc, Anyone pick out Bill Best in any of these?

In the photo "Jack Hartman in Vets Race" the guy in front of him is Nick Farac-ban (sp?). A winner of many national master time trial jerseys. Thanks for the great pictures. I was racing at the same time as Bob Parsons. Tough guy to ride against.

The picture entitled " A Great Day at the Presidio" - indeed it was! 1987 Coors Classic. That is myself, in the stars and stripes, next to then-World Road Champion Moreno Argentin. In front is a very talented rider, Janus Kuum, next to a rider from Argentin's team whose name I cannot recall. Thank you for the pictures - it is a real pleasure to look and remember. Glenn
