There is a cemetery in the Palouse
I try to visit it every time I drive through.
It's so peaceful there in any season,
the wind in the pines, the sounds of life in the distance.
It has pioneers born in far off lands and every cycle of life since.
It has all the tragedies of the past.
Women dying in childbirth.
Children who die from the hundreds of ways that happens.
Unknown deceases and accidents.
Then of course there is old age, but it all seems balanced.
It is so unlike some cemeteries where life was truly hard.
A remote cemetery I visit in Utah is full of mostly women, children
and men struck down at a moments notice by accident or disease
It is a sad place, the wind rarely stops and no one died of old age.
Another cemetery down on the Oregon coast there is only Irish there who came here on ships.
it's just them, first generation but they all died at very advanced ages
and their families moved on.
I know because I've met their decedents,
they recognize that generation was sacrificed.
That was the plan, a better life for the children.
It's all we can hope for!
Plant seeds of hope.
You'll be glad you did.
