The Elwha River runs free after a
century of being held behind two dams.
Loads of glacier flower, sand and gravel
silted up behind the dams now wash
out into the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
Once there it joins the near shore currents
and rebuilds the beaches that disappeared
after the dams were built.
It’s a beautiful thing to watch.
