In the 50s this shop was Zelma MacCormack's, Ladies Hairdressers and also Sports Goods. The MacCormacks were keen tennis and badminton players. The location then was the south side of Montague Street before the north side (Bute Arms Hotel, MacKinnon Grocer,Sheal Draper,Craigheads Toy Store, Clydesdale Bank, Bank of Scotland, Volunteer pub,Lexington Hotel and Craighead News Agent and some I may have forgotten were all demolished.

Yes, it's a great collection and the island is lucky it's being captured. In Glasgow, these are often destroyed by the modern signs stuck over them, or ruined when the are stripped off to fit another new one. I've tried, but seldom managed to 'save' any when I see work start, due to damage.

And, it will be your collection. Do not lose it, these are history.

Yes - it's a real historical archive - I hope Bute Museum are aware of this?
