Who knows the value of a Chevrolet fleetline 1942
It is body off restored and the inside is most original

Its a 1942 Helmet.. But this model had the "Fleetline" Script on the trunk.. we all call them helmets because of the hump back body style. Yes it is indeed a 1942 not a 46, 47 or 48... Some of the posters are correct, the distinquished upright blinkers on the sides of the grill are a give away.. Along with the grill and hood.. The fenders are unique as this is the only year to use this style of fender.. 1946 -48 are interchangeable.. 1942 Front Fenders have the blinkers cut out of the fenders for the upright fit.. The front splash pan is also unique to 1942.. The rear is interchangeable from 1941-48.. The Hood has its own badge, some may thing that its interchangeable with a 46, but its not.. The factory holes for the badges are different.. as the shape of the hood badges are not the same.. The side hood moldings are the same.. Also is the infamous "Flying Lady" hood ornament.. 1942 has the rare of the rare transparent flying lady hood ornament.. 1946 has the same design but its the actual "Flying Lady" is all chrome, with a clear plastic running along her back.. The interior of the 1942 & 46s are also similar.. black faces on speedo & clock.. Instrument panel is interchangeable from 42 - 48.. Accessories also set the 42 apart from the others.. The rarer than rare brown banjo horn button, with the outline of the GM symbol in the center but not detailed.. just the impression..

HMM I goofed!! I just looked at my black 1942 Fleetmaster Sedan with all the chrome [pre war time change over to painted mouldings)(including the T bar grille) and this is a '42 Mine had the torpedo shaped rear, can't tell if this one has the torpedo body from the picture

I am no expert but I looked at a 1942 Fleetline photo and that car has a "torpedo" type back. This car does not appear to be that way.

Just my opinion

You're all wrong. It's a 1942 Chevrolet FLEETLINE. I've seen the car in person.

1942 is correct. The small, curved parking lights in the lower grille corners are the clinchers, as well as the way the bumper ends turn upward.

Your 'reader' is mistaken. It is very obviously not a '42, it is a 1948 model - the 46 and 47 did not have the TBar grille.

Beautiful photo, beautiful car. Thanks for posting it. It's actually a '42.

1946 Chevrolet Fleetmaster Four Door Sedan. Chevy's first post war car was a carryover of the new 1942 model introduced just prior to America's entrance into World War II. The basic design continued through 1948 with minor grille and trim changes powered by Chevy's very reliable stovebolt six.
