I am trying to find out the engine color for this car. Is it Royal Blue? Also, do you know the name of the color on your car? I am a modeler, and strive for the most realism I can get. Thanks for your information.

how much are you selling it for?

The entire Cadillac line in 1958 was beautiful, with the three Eldorado models simply constituting the creme de la creme. The 1958 mechanics / drive train were not to be outdone - for that era - either. In my humble opinion the Brougham was arguably one of the most gorgeous automobiles ever put in - admittedly limited - production! Considering the situation with our automotive manufacturing base today, it is of no small comfort to recall that once we really did offer the "Standard of the world."

My dad owned a 1955 cad eldo convertable , car had the wonder bar radio, built in metal and rubber grid floor mats, electric eye dimmer mounted on dash, two four barrel carbs, eng rated at 275 horses, truly a spectacular auto .. but the really rare caddy of this era was the 58 eldo biarritz,, have never seen this car ,, never have seen one appear at auction on Barrett or any where.do any survivors exist and what are they worth/?

Paul

What you saw was not the Biarritz but most likely the Cadillac Brougham. The Brougham was a 4 door model with suicide doors and a stainless steel roof. Not sure of how many were made nor it's current value. I am a photographer not a car salesman.

More on the Brougham here:

I have seen a 1958 cadillac biarritz hard top with sucide doors. Is this car rare and do you know if many were made. Where would I find the value and how many were produced?

1958 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz. Harley Earl was in his final years as Chief Stylist at GM and it was no closely guarded secret that he had the philosophy that the more chrome, the better. 1958 GM cars dripped with chrome, and Cadillac was no exception. At GM, it was the year of glitz and dazzle, and Cadillac fielded cars that were loaded with both. At the pinnacle of the 1958 Cadillac lineup were the Eldorados. The Eldorado Brougham was a custom limited built four door hardtop with a brushed stainless steel roof and custom crafted interiors and a very lofty price tag of $ 13,074. Only 304 were produced. Then there were the other two Eldorados, the Eldorado Seville and the Eldorado Biarritz.
The Seville was a hardtop coupe and the Biarritz was a convertible. Both sold for $ 7,500. They were produced in similar numbers, 815 Sevilles and 855 Biarritz convertibles. Both rode a 129.5 inch wheelbase and were powered by a 365 cubic inch V-8 with three dual carburetors producing 335 horsepower. Air Conditioning was standard and the new air suspension was optional.

The best way to describe this beautiful Meridian Taupe Eldorado Biarritz in Ken's photographs is to share with you what the 1958 Cadillac Sales Brochure from my collection had to say about this car:

" The Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz for 1958 blends the automotive design of tomorrow with today's finest engineering. Its custom design is distinguished by individual treatment of rear fender panels and fins....by single-winged ornaments on fender crowns....by a broad chromed molding accenting the rear wheel opening....and by dramatic chrome rear panels that curve gracefully into the rounded rear deck. A special high performance engine combines with every known motoring advancement to make each journey an exciting and rewarding experience. Air suspension is, of course, an option at extra cost. Eldorado Biarritz interiors are truly in a class by themselves. they are offered in imported deep grain leathers......"

During the Fifties and Sixties, Cadillac was the number one luxury car built in America. Even in recession year 1958, when Cadillac's production was the lowest since 1954, Cadillac sold more cars than Lincoln and Imperial combined.
Enjoy Ken's excellent photographs of this magnificent motorcar.
