I see you have an interest in expressing meaning through interpreting the art of others, Xin. (So do I. I like this image for its abstraction and dark and rough textures --the artist expresses the sadness of economic deprivation here by grimly lining up his figures as if in a bread line. These figures are in hard times, and you have made these rough images look even rougher. You intensify the artist's statement by photographing it from the front with selective focus, abstracting it by converting color to black and white, and stressing the shadows that withhold detail and suggest meaning. You shock us by creating an abstraction of work of art that becomes incongruous and expresses its human values to us directly and intimately.
