We discovered this nest after hearing the mother hum around that fir tree for a while.
These two babies were almost ready to leave and big-one on the right is busy practicing
his wing movements at the moment we spotted them.
These nests really look like bumps on the branches of these firs
and when the casual human walks by the birds just hide completely in the nest -
well you see the beaks sticking out when you know what to look for.
Mom came back shortly afterwards to feed insects, honey and willow-sap (holes
opened by sapsuckers) to the two of them.
