Photo taken with the Canon EOS 6D. 1/250th sec. at ISO100. The Moon's diameter at the time (3:16:49AM MST) was 29.46 arc-minutes. The Moon's distance was 402,700km, (or 250,226mi, 313.65yd).
Image scale: 0.49 arc-sec/pixel.
The moon was at perigee on December 24th, 2014 and will reach apogee on January 9th. So, it makes sense that the Moon fit within the FOV since it is near its farthest point from the Earth.
