Eye to eye

The hare in the first image has only partially changed to its winter white coat while the one in the second image has completely changed.

A question: From these images it appears that the snowshoe hare also changes eye colour from brown to black but I haven't been able to find any documentation to confirm this. Can anyone help? Thanks.
