I brought this fish back to Ed from Mexico. Polo, the artist, described how he first dives for the abalone shells, then scrapes the surface to bring forth the iridescent inner shell, and finally cuts and applies them to his handcrafted silver jewelry and other decorative items. Believe it or not, Polo said this can be used as a bottle opener. Fat chance!
