Boris, Post Mortem

My beloved little finch, "Boris" died yesterday. Every morning, for six years, while I had my coffee, he would happily sing the same exact song. I tried to save him with some birdie antibiotics, but he went 'just like that', from being happy and healthy to dropping dead. He will be missed. Go ahead, you can call me goofy, but I will really miss my "little chicken". The date on my camera was set twelve hours behind, which I have now fixed, but I assure all this shot was taken today, Sunday, June 13, 2004.

Boris looks like he was a wonderful bird...this is now August...maybe you've gotten another.
NOT to replace him...but to dull the pain of losing him...and also to maybe capture a bit
of him...in the new bird....Hope you are feeling better...I have 4 Shih Tzus..and don't know what I will do when one passes...they are all different...as are birds, I'm sure...
we gave away a Quaker...and I STILL quote things he used to say...and it's been over a year....a friend has him, though...so I know he has a good home.

Sometimes the pain of losing a pet feels like it will never leave. Not sure it ever does, but once it has dulled, you can take pleasure in the joy he gave you, and know that you returned it to him. I'm crying with you.

Thanks, guys ... it's so weird to see his empty cage (sniff, sniff).

the date is unimportant. Your loss is. I am so sorry he's gone. I can imagine what a lovely song he had. I love hearing the local house & gold finches in song up here. How long do such small birds live? Perhaps he had a long & fruitful life . . My suggestion . ..allow yourself a grieving period (it is SOOO necessary) and see about getting another . .or two! Maybe he needed a companion?!?!
