Like the other cities in our region, Bochum changed from a small town into a city
during the area of coal mining and steel fabrication.
The coal mines and steel factories are closed for many years now,
but there are still a lot of historic industrial buildings and other reminders at many places,
like this giant bell in front of Bochum Mayor House.
The bell was built by the steel factory 'Bochumer Verein' for the world exhibition in Paris in 1867.
It was one of the attractions of the exhibition.
Took this shot a few days ago for today´s topic 'history' of the 'October Another Hunt' challenge.
It was the same day, when I captured the sleeping guy for the 'bright sight of life' topic.
You can find him here in the reflection again.
