Our intent was to go far from the madding crowd, so we left Rainbow and headed to Stairway Falls another mile down river. We could see a couple of people on the river at the small falls below Rainbow, but there was no one beyond that. It's hard to tell here, but Stairway is a series of 6 drops of about 10' each on top of each other. The swimming hole here is excellent.
