Cindy was back in town for the Labor Day week end - yea! I took Friday off from work so we could get an early start on the festivities - if you want to call hiking a festivity. Neither one of us had done the Chimney Tops Trail in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, so we decided to give it a try. I've driven by the trail head a couple of times mid day and the parking lot was overflowing so we got an early start. We got to the trail head just after 8AM and were the 2nd vehicle in the lot. The trail to the top is 2 miles and rated difficult. Even if you don't go all the way up, it's worth stopping and just hiking up part of the way.
