Most people up here figured there would be at least one more snow before Spring set in - and there was. Temps this past week end were in the 70's, but the forecast for Monday into today was falling temps and snow in the higher elevations along the NC/TN border. I had last night off from work and thought I'd just see what was what when I got up this morning. I woke to about an inch or so of snow in the yard then checked the radar and saw it was snowing along I-40 at the border. Max Patch?? Nah - but maybe Big Creek or Harmon Den. Then I remembered my pal Susan told me that Soco Gap at the Blue Ridge Parkway saw snow when others didn't. Once I hit I-40, the snow diminished and Maggie Valley didn't have that much either. But once I got close to the Parkway, things changed dramatically. I decided to stop at Soco Falls first which is on the other side of Soco Gap south on Hwy 19. This is the trail heading down to the viewing platform.
