Yes, I'm behind on posting. It's now Tuesday the 16th - better late than never I suppose. On Saturday the 6th we decided to take a short hike in the higher elevations. The Blue Ridge Parkway is mostly closed during the winter, but the Mountains to Sea Trail crosses Hwy 215 just north of the Parkway and we decided on the section that heads towards Devil's Courthouse. This area often times has snow when the elevations around Brevard don't if you have the vehicle to get up there. Parking is the big area on the left of Hwy 215 a short distance north of the Parkway. The trail head is down and across the road a short distance. Look for the stairs heading up.
You can actually pull up on the Parkway just before the parking, but gates block access going both ways. People cross country ski up and down the Parkway and you could also just hike up the Parkway to Devil's Courthouse. This shots is from the MST part ways up the trail.
