I am from Pakistan Navy, and have seen many beautyful countries of the world i.e. China, Saudi Arabia,New Yark, Indonesia and many more!!!!!!! but!! I have never seen a such beauty like Kaghan Velly and specially "Jared". AAhhhhhhh!!! My Home Land!!!!!!!!!!!

Wa Alaikum Assalam Sultan, I will recommend Naran, because it's not too far away and is really beautiful. The road is in bad shape and you may face some delays because of landslide. Please read my responses dated 22-May-2007 and 31 May 2007, I have only been there once and I'm not sure about current situation. You can try to contact Nadeem Ahmed (see his comments below), he has been there earlier this year. Hope this helps. Waqas

AoA, all pics are too good, i really enjoyed naran on pc. i want to have some suggestion from ur side, i am going to plan with my wife and two children, so after earthquake roads are accesible or not, i want to visit that place which away from city, peaceful , green valley and mountains and obiviously accomodation should be reasonable so which place u suggest according to u experience,if u suggest naran then have u know any place which will be according to my demand and few people know about that place i will wait for ur response. takecare of urself, have a good time.

Assalam o Alaikum Aamir, I have only been to Naran once and that was after the earthquake (the pics are from that trip, it was in August 2006). I think a coaster can be driven up to Naran, but I'm not sure whether the road condition has improved or deteriorated since that trip last year. We left Islamabad at night around 9pm and we were stuck near Kawai because of landslide (we reaached there at about 4am), we had to wait for the day time for the bulldozers to clear it up. They started at 8 or 9am, but had to halt again and again becuase of falling rocks. We finally crossed the small portion of landslide after 12pm (noon) and we got to Naran at some time in the evening. At that place in Kawai, the landslide was continuous, on our way back we encountered it again, and we had to leave the car on the one end and three of us who wanted to go back to Islamabad went down the hill on foot, crossed the stream on a little wooden bridge and then went up the hill on the other side of the slide and rented a jeep to Balakot. I'm not sure if that part of the mountain is now stable or not. If not, then you should be prepared for delays. Can you do Lahore to Naran in one go? It depends on the fellow travellers whether they demand a cozy hotel room after 8 hours of drive or they're willing to go non-stop for 15 hours (possibly more). Hope this helps. Waqas

AoA Waqas, I and abt 40 of my colleagues will be travelling to Naraan this June and i want to know if its possible to reach Naraan from Lahore in a coaster(the mazda one)? Also, how many hours drive is it from Lahore to Naraan non-stop.

Salam Nadeem, I would answer in the light of my experience, these pics are from the trip I took last year (12-14 August 2006). You can see we were blocked by a landslide (it was near Kawai), at that place the mud and rocks were sliding continuously, we got there at night and had to wait for the day time for the bulldozers to clear it, and because of the falling rocks they had to pull back the bulldozers and wait for 10-15 minutes again and again, so it took 3-4 hours for them to clear the path (which could have been done in 15-30 minutes if the rocks weren't falling). Unless the mountain in that part has become stable by now, be prepared for landslide in that area. 1) The road is usable after the earthquake, though there are some patches where one lane is damaged, in some areas both the lanes are damaged, but it is accessible. 2) You can drive up to Naran in any car like Mehran, Cultus etc (Cultus might have some issues in certain places because of low ground clearance, but not much more than you'll have problems with Cultus in cities like Pindi or Lahore). 3) I have only been there once, and it was in Monsoon season, so I'm not sure. But I think the mountain was unstable until last year, so maybe it had been sliding all the time even without rain. Hope that helps. Waqas

Waqas: I wa planning a trip to Naran this June and wanted to check a few things: 1) How is the road after the earthquake? 2) Is it okay to drive up to Naran in a small car like cultus or you have to have a jeep? 3) Does land slides happen all year long or during and after the monsoon season?
