Prior to my arrival at Cold Bay, Lt. Col Quirk had arranged for recreational vehicles to be flown-in for our recreational use. They consisted of four jeeps and a weapons carrier. All were 1950's vintage and, despite their age, provided us with the opportunity to get out and explore the area on our free time. The four jeeps were painted red, yellow, green and blue, while the weapons carrier was its original olive drab. This road going up the side of Frosty had been there since World War II. Actually, it was more of a jeep trail than a road. The bay, Cold Bay, is on the horizon.
