Campfire at Navy Town

Cold Bay, AK

Some of us spent time exploring "Navy Town" looking for relics. Navy Town was an abandoned WWII complex that included a temporary hospital. One weekend Steve Bishop(R)and I camped overnight in one of the abandoned Quonset huts at Navy Town. Our feet were wet from slogging in the rain, so we built a fire and removed our boots to dry them and our socks. In the hut was an old table that apparently had been left behind after WWII. I placed my camera on top of the table, and set the automatic timer for a picture. The next morning, we went over to Russell Creek, caught some Dolly Varden, and fried them for breakfast. That was, by far, the best fish I had ever eaten!
