Standing guard at an all but forgotten location on the North Shore of the St. Johns River,
near it’s mouth, is this decaying canon. The site originally suggested by Gen. Robert E Lee
for the defense of the river is known as Yellow Bluff Fort. Actually an earth works
it was occupied alternately by both sides during the American Civil War.
