Pintails in flooded grasses

Garretson Point, MLK Shoreline, Oakland, CA

The vernal pond received a recent rainfall of 3-4" that flooded the
grasses that had already sprung up in heretofore dry places.
Gnats were everywhere on the waters and the Pintails and Mallards were
nibbling them up. The turquoise of its beak is intense...probably
made more pronounced by being wet.

A wonderful shot, and your focus on the near bird, with his chum bringing up the rear, balances the image beautifully.
It looks comical, somehow, and makes one wish we had sound too.
Thanks for your interesting description of the afternoon.
