View from the Way up to Chinese Peak P1020169.jpg

Chinese Peak is the new name for Chink's Peak, which was renamed because the old name was considered racist. Anyway, a Chinese person was found dead here long ago. By some accounts, there was an entire shanty town of Chinese people up here. I'd love to photograph the remnants of that if I could find it. I wonder how the Chinese ended up there, how they supported themselves, and how they kept warm during the winter!

Most locals still call this mountain, "Chink's Peak," and this certainly doesn't make them racists. It's just hard to change a place's name over a short period of time. Official signs and maps, however, now do say "Chinese Peak."

Can you spot Scout Mountain in the background?
