Wat Benchamabophit Dusitvanaram is also known as the marble temple -- the primary material of which it is built. Construction began in 1899 at the command of King Chulalongkorn (one of his palaces is located in the area). The temple's name is translated as "Temple of the Fifth King". It was designed by a half-brother of the King.
