The problem with books of 'circular' walks, is that they generally have a good bit, in today's case, the coastpath from Widemouth Bay to Bude, and a the bit to get you there and back, which is generally a trudge along unsigned paths and through fields. Today's fields were made of mud, and nowhere in the book did it say "climb over a stone wall and through a hedge". Which is what we had to do when we found ourselves, having followed the walk directions to the letter, in the corner of a muddy field with no other obvious way forward. Eventually we found the coast path... actually, it's not hard to find, if you fall in the sea, you've gone to far. Worth the walk for this view? Yes, but that bl**dy book is going on the fire when LA's not watching!
