Mar 31: White

The internet is a funny place. While some are worrying about which lens to buy for their new DSLR, and others are worrying about whether or not the rumors of a new Nikon D50 are true, or if the colour rendition of an EF85 f1.8 is as good as an EF70-200f4L, I'm sitting here worrying about my pictures. I have this terrible feeling that they don't exist. There's an old IT expression that says that digital information doesn't exist unless it's in two places, and even having most of my work backed up to another computer, I still feel uneasy. I have very few prints of my digital photographs, there's nothing of them that I can pick up, touch, hang on a wall, write on, tear to shreds etc. If electricity suddenly stops working tomorrow, I know I'll have much more to worry about, but my photographs will most certainly be gone. So I'm going to get some prints made. Lots of them. So when people ask to see some of my work, I can show them real photographs, not a computer screen, and I'm not going to worry about those lenses!

Ah yes, the picture... I just fancied a high key shot rather than my usual blacks. And our new bathroom is very high key!

And I'm interested to know what process you'll use to print some of your digital photos...

I had the very same thought yesterday!! I'm so worried about losing picks I have the stuff on three hard-drives! and still not happy, must get some of my favs printed....

P.S. it was Paul Bate :) he ran a 11.09 but this year he added weight! a nice Bernard Newbury interior, Russ Fellows ran a 10.308!!! not bad for street cars hehe

Wow, I don't think this could be any better. As for your musings about the nature of digital photography -- you've echoed my thoughts exactly and I think about it alot and never cease to feel uneasy.

Beautiful shot, and I agree I need real prints, to make the images feel like they exist!

Great shot, I like the composition and the whiteness.

Gorgeous fixtures!

Beautiful use of high key. There are very nice lines running through the photo with the hose and then the chain. The black of the stopper is a nice punch too. Really great image.

Great composition here, excellent point on the prints/backing up too. Do you have a DVD burner to back your photos up on as well? (or CD- but the DVD holds so many more. grin) Most of mine are on a 'second' drive I use strictly for storage on my PC, but. hmm.. am decidely due to make a some backups as well.
