This is my work area for creating a replacement for the
basil picture currently in the CSLR_CHALLENGE area. I'm
not satisfied with the picture I have submitted there.
I looked for another good piece of basil to work on the
picture some more, and I selected this one because the
branches are pretty much coplanar, and I like the shape.
I photographed it in front of a white background and also
in front of a black background.
During the process of post-processing, I noticed a very
interesting pattern in the background if I increased the
saturation. I really like the effect, so I'm keeping it
for this picture.
Increasing the saturation on the background without
affecting the plant was very difficult and involved
making many selections followed by gaussian blur or
saturation change. This process was iterated until I
got what I wanted.
Finally, the frame was created by decreasing lightness
and increasing saturation around the border.
The plant itself has very little processing applied
to it, mostly USM with small radius.
