_____John was 'out of town' on several occasions back in those days. That's really how I got to know him. We exchanged letters and I was able to send him some books too, mostly the ones I could dig up with surfing themes. I still have a novelization of "Big Wednesday", it never had a cover, which I recall I sent him and which he brought back home when he returned... and, knowing me I could probably dig up a few of the letters too ( but don't worry John. I'm not planning to...plus it might take me another couple of decades to actually find them....).
_____Photographs were always a problem, though. As I have mentioned, the collage:
http://www.pbase.com/venicepix/image/45050142 that shows up early on in venicepix was created because that particular 'venue' would only allow one photo at a time and I made a single photo of the collage to satisfy that requirement. Another earlier 'venue' didn't allow photos at all, so I made the "writing paper" attached below. This must have been before I was doing B&W, these are all instamatic shots, and this was the first color xerox copy I ever made. It was quite a novelty at the time! ( and rather expensive...)
[The individual identifications are a recent addition....did I already post this somewhere?
If so, I can't find it!]
