I didn't know him at all, didn't know his name until now, though there are some later pix w/surfboard. This picture just has always been a keeper, for the obvious visual snap, but also because it really was Christmas morning when the boardwalk was always totally dead until later on in the afternoon ( though if there were waves the breakwater might have been rockin' with all the guys trying out their new swag!) So here's this kid with his new prize down on the B.W. which was usually jumpin' 24/7 and there's no one to play with at all!.... so what to do but wait it out.....

Daryl was a "special" type of kid that was a handful to babysit. His mom sold handmade necklaces on the boardwalk( the glass beaded thread ones with matching earings that were popular in the 80's) she made pretty good money at it. Watching Daryl was more than a handful that kid had a very bad temper and would throw a fit that was just OFF THE CHAIN.
It's really been bugging me lately as to how that kid turned out.
