In Moldova, Sucevita Monastery is a fortress/Monastery built just before 1600 by the Movila Brothers: Ieremia, Simion and Georghe [Metropolitan of Suceava]. Blue Pigments from this region
make the frescoes brilliant and unlike any of the other monasteries. The faces and figures are
appealing and drawn from the local populace. The inside and outside paintings were done by Ion and Sofronie previous to 1596.
