Eau Claire Market Smokestack

Calgary, AB

Where the smokestack stands, the City of Calgary’s bus barns were created in 1947 from relocated WWII aircraft hangers reassembled around a central heating system.
This smokestack served as part of the heating system until the bus barns around it were demolished in the 1980’s.
It now serves as one of the few on-site reminders of the earlier role this area played in Calgary’s history.
