A Break in the Weather

view map

Powell Point from Henriville, UT.
A snowy day gave way to the sun for a short time.
It is hard to keep the sun hidden for very long
out here in Southern Utah.
Named for John Wesley Powell,
this 10,000 ft abutment was used by his
survey party in the late 1800s
because it can be seen 100 miles away.

Thank you, Dan. A story goes with this shot.
I was at Bryce NP on an on-again off-again snowy day. Found nothing great to shoot so I headed home, but first stopped off at Ruby's Inn for some coffee. Sitting in the booth I looked out and saw Powell Point going in and out of sunshine. So I paid my bill and drove about 15 miles east on highway 12 (towards Capital Reef NP). That is where Henriville is.

Thanks for giving me this galley site. All very good shots but this one is outstanding. The eye pull is almost magnetic. If there is any suggestion I could give it is to ad a tad more color saturation. Similar to the companion photograph. Where is Henriville?
