Let's Tour London!
This is quite pretty, and very interesting, if you look at the details. Can you spot the salamanders? "Vase of Flowers by a Window" by Balthasar van der Ast, c.1650-57 |
We are now outside in Trafalar Square. Pigeons, pigeons, pigeons! |
Oh, did I mention pigeons? |
I did mention the pigeons, right? I know you are wondering, and yes, one pigeon will be remembered by me for a long time! This was not a souvenir I had planned on! (grin) |
This photo was taken in Trafalagar Square sans pigeons. Notice "Big Ben" peeking out through the center. More on "Big Ben" later... |
There are so many statues in London, and I can't recall who this one depicts. I took this photo due to the shirt that was added. I think it advertised the bicycle race in France or the Wimbledon Tennis Tournament. The funny thing is that somebody else, also, stopped to take a picture. So, I guess, I wasn't the only one to find it amusing. |
Leicester Square(pronounced "Lester") is a fascinating place. It is in the heart of the theatre district (not movie theatres!). It attracts many people, and on the day I was there one of the people was David Li. |
David is playing the Erhu "Chinese Fiddle". I only know this because I bought his CD. (grin) If you are in my 7th grade class, you will learn to love it or else... |
A 7 mile walk meandering through the parks of London was dedicated to Diana, Princess of Wales. The outer rim on this plaque explains that from where you are standing you can see a "panoramic views of Buckingham Palace and Whitehall". |
We are going to head toward the palace, but do you notice something? Well, actually 2 somethings...pigeons, again! |
This is the view of Buckingham Palace that I saw, when I exited the park. |
A close-up of the statue directly in front of the palace reveals Queen Victoria. |
