Williamsburg, Monticello, & D.C.

This was a great trip, but it was extremely cold. By the time I left D.C., it was in the mid-20's!! Fortunately, you get to enjoy this trip in your comfortable home.

Ice was carted here from a nearby pond and river. As much at 62 wagon loads were required to fill it to the depth of 16 feet.

This is the entrance to the University of Virginia.  To the right and left of the green are the original dorm rooms.  There is a waiting list for them.

Well, this door is decorated for the holidays, and there is firewood outside.

Many of the rooms displayed flags.  Most had a place to leave messages.  The students can decorate their room door any way they want.  One had ballet slippers hanging from the door.

We're in D.C. now! This bronze statue can be seen as you leave the Smithsonian metro station.  It is in front of the Navy Memorial.  It was SOOOOOOOOOOO cold!!!
